Suphala has been sought by prominent artists, leading to collaborations with Perry Ferrell (Jane's Addiction), Lady Ms. Kier (Dee-Lite), 4Hero, Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Sean Lennon, Sussan Deyhim, Joan Osbourne, Vikter Duplaix, DJ Logic, DJ Fafu, Norah Jones, and Timbaland (Neptunes, PDiddy, Missy Elliott), among others. In performance, Suphala leads her own band, integrating various genres to create a rich, emotive, and spontaneous sound.

Suphala’s attraction to the tabla dates from early childhood, however, it was not until she began her apprenticeship under Ustad Allarakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain—the greatest tabla masters in the world—that she was able to delve deeply into the classical Indian tradition of the instrument. The late Ustad Allarakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain are a constant source of inspiration; their playing continues to reveal to her the true sound and complexity of the tabla with its endless range and rhythmic possibilities.

In The NOW, Suphala creates her own distinctive sound that blends the timeless with the new, a sound that is constantly evolving and which draws energy from world around her.
